Mountains

The cordillera in Alishan Township is composed of 18 mountains, including Mt. Taiwujian, Mt. Data, Mt. Jhu and Mr. Shihshuei. The cordillera is a branch of the famous Mt. Jade as well as the cradle of three important streams in Taiwan: Zengwen Stream, Bajhang Stream and Alishan Stream (or Cingshuei Stream).

Mountains in Alishan Township mainly belong to Alishan Cordillera, except for a small part in the east, which belongs to Jade Cordillera. The ridges of the two cordilleras are ten to fifteen km apart and the orientation of two cordilleras both run from north northeast to south southwest.  Jade Cordillera is 8 km away from the ridge of the Central Mountain Chain.
